     আজ সন্ধেয় ফ্যামিলির সাথে বাজারে গিয়েছিলাম একটু কেনাকাটা, খাওয়াদাওয়া করব বলে। পুরাতন বাজার আমার বাড়ি থেকে বেশি দূরে না।       মেয়েরা আর ওদের মা শপিং মলে ঢুকল। আমি রাস্তার ধারে স্কুটির পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি। রাস্তায় লোকজন গাড়িঘোড়া চলেছে।       অনেকে হেঁটে যাচ্ছে। আবার অনেকে রাস্তা পার হচ্ছে। হঠাৎ একটি তরুণ ছেলেকে দেখলাম রাস্তা পার হতে গিয়ে আর একটু হলে অটোর কানা খাচ্ছিল বলে। মানে ধাক্কা লেগে যাচ্ছিল।       পরনে কেতাদুরস্ত পোশাক। স্মার্ট ছেলে দেখে মনে হয়। যে মুহূর্তে সে ধাক্কা খেতে যাচ্ছিল তখন আমার দৃষ্টি গেল ওর মুখের দিকে।      দেখি ওর দুই কানে মোবাইলের হেডফোন গোঁজা।       এখন প্রশ্ন, ওই স্মার্ট লুকের ছেলেটা কি আসলে একজন স্মার্ট ছেলে ছিল। যে সামান্য পথচলার মতো কাজে নিজের দায়িত্ব নিজে নিতে ব্যর্থ হয়।     অটোর সাথে ধাক্কাটা লাগলে ওর মাথাটা আর হয়ত আস্ত থাকত না।      এই ঘটনা দেখে আমার শুধু একটা কথা মনে আসছে, শুধু ওই ছেলেটি নয়, ওর মতো কত ছেলে, কত মেয়ে, কত পুরুষ ...

     কুহেলি আর সৃজিতা কলেজ থেকে সন্ধেবেলায় বাড়ি ফিরছে। বিদ্যাসাগর কলেজে ইংলিশ অনার্স পড়ে এরা দুই বান্ধবী। কলেজ সেরে ফিরতে-ফিরতে এই শীতের দিনে সন্ধেই হয়ে যায়।      সবে পাইকপাড়া মানে ওদের পাড়ার সীমানায় পা দিয়েছে, সৃজিতা কুহেলিকে উচ্ছ্বসিত সুরে বলল, ‘এইবার তোর মন-ভালো পাগলার দেখা মিলবে। পাড়ায় ঢুকে গেছি যে। আর সামনেই যে আমাদের সোনালি সঙ্ঘ। দেখবি'খন সে এতক্ষণ হয়ত ক্লাবের মাচায় বসে সিগারেট টানছে।’      কুহেলি বলল, ‘কী করে বলল সেদিন, তোমায় দেখলে আমার মন ভালো হয়ে যায়!’      সৃজিতা বলল, ‘ছেলেটা মন্দ নয়। বিহ্যাভিয়ার ভালো। পাড়ায় সুনাম আছে। কোয়ালিফায়েড এবং প্রতিষ্ঠিত।’      কুহেলি বলল, ‘ওদের বড় বিজনেস বল?’      সৃজিতা বলল, ‘যারা কাজের গ্ল্যামার দেখে তাদের কাছে ওদের দাম নেই। ওরা শপিং মল বা নামী রেস্টুরেন্টের মালিক নয়। তবে ওরা কৃষিজ সার বিক্রি করে ওদের দোকান থেকে যা আয় করে, আমার যতদূর জানা আছে পাঁচজন চাকরিজীবীর যা মোট ইনকাম তার চেয়ে ওদের ইনকাম বেশি। তুই হ্যাঁ-টা বলেই দে। ও তো তোকে প্রপোজ করেইছে। তুই ব্যাপারটা গু...
